The remains of the gunpowder mills that were built near Cherrybrook Farm. In 1844, George Frean, a wealthy Alderman from Plymouth formed the Plymouth and Dartmoor Gunpowder Company to produce blackpowder or gunpowder for the mines and quarries of Dartmoor.
